Joseph A. Yow Jr., 85, of Galax died Friday in the Wheatland Hills Retirement Center, Hillsville.
He was born Aug. 15, 1927, to Joseph A. and Nina Elizabeth Dull Yow in Forsyth County, N.C.
Survivors include his wife, Laura H. Yow of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Randy Reeves of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Tina and Mike Wilcox of Woodlawn, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Robert G. and Dolores Yow of Galax; three grandchildren, Shannon Richey, Andrea Khan and Brittany Yow; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Curtis Snow, Doris and Delmar Lawson and Annie Ruth and Bill Atkins, all of Winston-Salem, N.C.; Catherine Butner of Lexington, N.C.; one brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Joan Yow of Winston-Salem, N.C.; as well as six great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at 3 p.m. in the Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, Galax, Va., with the Rev. John Grimm officiating. The family received friends at the church from 1 p.m. until time for the service .
Graveside service and burial was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 3250 High Point Road, Winston-Salem, N.C..
