Lewis Franklin Fender, 86, of Fries, passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Francis Marion Manor.
He was born March 18, 1926, to the late Maggie and Lundy Fender in Sparta, N.C.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Marie Fender; son, Lewis Franklin Fender II; three sisters, Betty, Evelyn and Ophelia; three brothers, George, Elmer and Jess; and one grandson, Dylan.
Survivors include two sons, Lynn Fender and wife, Renay and Doug Fender and wife, Donna; five grandchildren, Kristin, Douglas, Savanah, Chip and Martin; one great-grandchild, Dakota; three sisters, Grace Fender, Cora Lee Cobler and Clyde Edwards, and husband, Clive; and a special niece, Kim Lawson.
A funeral service was held at Twin County Funerals Sanctuary Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, beginning at 7 p.m. The Rev. Jim Longest officiated. Family received friends two hours prior to the service, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Internment was held at Monta Vista Memorial Gardens Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, beginning at 10 a.m.
