Mary Alice Lineberry Holderfield, 78, of Galax passed away Saturday Aug. 11, 2012.
She was born on May 26, 1934, to G. Clarence and Betty C. Lineberry.
Mary Alice was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 60 years Joe; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Jenny and Jeff and Patti; grandchildren, Joseph, Jay and his wife Suzanne, Dianna and her husband, David and Laura and her husband Ray and Jacob; and one great-grandchild, Kate Ann Holderfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild, Thomas Joseph Holderfield.
Mary Alice was a retired teacher with 32 years of service in Pulaski and Carroll counties and held multiple teaching certificates and earned many awards including Teacher of the Year.
She was an active member of the Gladeville Ruitan Club.
Mary Alice attended Gambetta Church of Christ for most of her adult life. Most days she could be found with needle and thread in hand as she was an avid quilter.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel with Wayne Bailey, Carroll Lineberry, Lawrence Warden and Randy Warden officiating. Burial followed in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, from 12:30 p.m., until service time.
