Robert Louis Nichols Sr., 82, of Baywood, passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.
He was born Aug. 29, 1931, at Baywood, Va., to the late Rose Virginia Dixon and Everett Hazes Nichols.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Hawks Nichols of the home; son and wife, Robert Louis Nichols Jr. and Terri of Baywood; grandson, Robert Franklin Nichols of Baywood; two brothers and spouses, Thomas Andrew and Marie Nichols of Baywood and Everett Jr., and Mary Nichols of Advance, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel, Independence, Va. The Rev. Jeff Combs and the Rev. Ted Bartlett officiated. Masonic rites were conducted by the Galax Masonic Lodge #68 A.F. & A.M. Interment was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Independence, Va., with military rites by Grayson County VFW
