Samuel Jackson McGrady

Samuel Jackson McGrady, 86, of Hillsville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C., with his family present.
Jack was born in Wythe County and graduated from Jackson Memorial High School.
He was a talented mechanic who loved God, his wife and family, his farm and cows, the land and nature.
He was a long-time member of Fairview Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the New River Valley Polled Hereford Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman S. and Flora Frost McGrady; brothers, Harry Lee and Guy; and sister, Mary Ruth Hubbard Owens.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years, Mary Lee Carter McGrady; son and spouse, David McGrady and Katharine McKee of Silver Spring, Md.; granddaughter, Anna of New York City; and grandson, Charlie of Los Angeles; in-laws, Helen W. McGrady, Evelyn Hill, Harry and Doris Jennings; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Fairview Presbyterian Church in Hillsville with Pastor Debbie Ginder officiating. The family received friends at the church from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial followed in Wilkinson Cemetery.
