William John (Bill) Huff, 58, of Sparta, N.C., passed away on July 28, 2012, in Sparta, N.C.
He was born in Charlottesville, Va., to Erstine Merz and Ada Inez Paisley Huff.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Bill grew up in Culpeper, Va. He was a graduate of Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro, Va., and he attended the University of Virginia extension in northern Virginia. He served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1973. Bill was an avid Virginia Tech fan and was well-known for his friendliness, his kind heart, and his sense of humor. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Delp Huff of the home; his mother, Inez Paisley Huff of Galax, Va.; one son, Matthew John Huff of Mouth of Wilson, Va.; two step-daughters, Sharon Coe and husband Melvin of Sparta, N.C., and Waynette Church and husband Darin of Ennice, N.C.; one stepson, Darren Cranford and special friends Cheryl and Trinity; one grandson, Jacob Dylan Huff; four step-grandchildren, Bryson and Bailey Church and MaKayla and Jacob Cranford; two sisters, Ann Parrish and husband Jerry of Newport News, Va., and Sara Coalson and husband Dale of Mount Airy, N.C.; his twin-brother, Gary Harrison Huff and wife Brenda of Galax, Va.; one special niece, Amy Coalson; and two nephews, Josh Justin Huff and Jeff Coalson.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at Grandview Memorial Chapel. Interment followed in the Piney Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery in Piney Creek with full military rites conducted by the Bruce Wayne Osborne VFW
Post #7034. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home and other times at 44 Hospital Road, Sparta, N.C.
