Geneva Lavada Jackson Byrd, 88, went home to be with our Lord, Tuesday, March 11, 2014.
The Guest Book is expired.
She was born to Clint S. Jackson and Nora Alice Jackson Jan. 21, 1926, both deceased.
She was raised on Brush Creek in Grayson County, Va.
She loved to reminisce of days with her daddy growing up on the farm, fishing with her hands and driving a school bus in Ivanhoe. She was a social butterfly who never met a stranger, loved to play the piano and always wore a smile no matter the ailment.
She was a proud two time breast cancer survivor and advocate for the cause. As of late, she was most happy spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She had been blessed last fall with the birth of her first great-grand child.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Lincoln Byrd.
Survivors include two loving daughters, Mary Alice Byrd White (Mark) of Germanton, N.C., and Sarah Elizabeth Byrd Tran (Tom) of Winston Salem, N.C.; two grandchildren, Savanna Marie White Yount (Justin) of Walnut Cove, N.C., and Matthew Kyle White (Morgan) of Germanton, N.C.; and a great-granddaughter, Ava Preslie Yount.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday March 14, 2014, at Cold Springs United Methodist Church with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Pastor Bobbie Dunford and the Rev. Ted Anders officiating. Burial will follow in the Cold Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Cold Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
