Donald Alan Berry, 59, of Hillsville, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, in a Winston Salem Hospital.
He was born May 5, 1958, in Roanoke.
Survivors include his parents, Joseph Nelson Berry and Laura Carico Berry of Hillsville; brother, Jeffrey Troy Berry; and sister-in-law, Reanna Berry of Galax; sister, Susan Laura Berry of Hillsville; nieces, Amanda Grace Gardner and Jessica Lena Berry; one nephew, Joseph Andrew Berry; aunts, Helen Morton and Josephine Berry Sinclair and husband, Thomas Sinclair; and several cousins and special friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Nelson Berry.
Donald was a lover of fishing and horses.  He kept horses at his "Turkey Knob Farm" in Grayson County for several years and later moved them to ancestral log cabin/farm in Stevens Creek. Donald attended Carroll County Schools where he played J.V. Baseball and Basketball.
Donald had many friends of all ages and was obliging when they needed help.
He always had a smile and a jovial laugh which carried over great distance.
Donald owned and operated a seamless guttering business in the Twin Counties for many years.  When help became hard to get, he sold the business yet continued to do small construction jobs until the time of his death.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Smith officiating.  Burial followed in Wilkinson Memorial Cemetery.  The family received friends at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, from 6 until 8 p.m.
