Rita David, 83, of Vinton, went to be with her Lord Thursday, March 21,2013.

She was born in Welch, W.Va., Jan. 1, 1930, to the late Robert Breece and Virginia D. Halsey.
Survivors include three loving children, Jacquelyn D. Profitt of Charlotte, N.C.,, John L. David and Vicky Smith of Charlotte, N.C., and Martha Warring and husband Bob of Scottsville; her sister, Ella Mae Hunt of Fredericksburg; six grandchildren, Nichole David, Ashley Taylor and husband Walt. Amanda Profitt, Kelly Warring and Christopher Warring; one great-grandson, Nathan VanZant; and one nephew, Wally Hunt and wife Liz and their family.
Rita worked at Steven's Clinic Hospital in Welch, W.Va., at age 17 as an X-ray Technician. She continued her career at Roanoke Memorial Hospital and later at Jefferson Hospital. In 1967, Rita became the Program Director of Radiologic Technology at Community Hospital. In 1973, she became Program Director of the Radiography Program at Virginia Western Community College. She retired in 1995.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church in Vinton, Va. Following the service there will be a gathering of family and friends.
