Ruth Cochran Alderman, 96, of Hillsville, passed away on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at Trinity Mission of Hillsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Alderman; parents, John and Ida James Cochran; and son-in-law, J.L. Hill.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret Hill of King of N.C., Shirley and John Sindlinger of Manassas, Va., Brenda and Barry Goldberg of Roanoke, and Donna and Jay Gregory of Stuart; two sons and daughters-in-laws, Robert and Wilma Alderman of Radford and Ronald and Audrey Alderman of Hillsville; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and 10 step great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Aug.13, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Johnson and the Rev. Wendell Horton officiating. Burial followed at the Gardner Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
