Barbara Ethel Wagner went home to be with our Lord and Saviour on Thursday, July 31, 2014.
She passed away at Waddell Nursing Home in Galax, Va., where she had been receiving care for several months.
She was born on March 23, 1929, in Parma, Ohio and resided for over 60 years in Cleveland and Strongsville, Ohio. Several years after her retirement from Palmer Supply Company in Cleveland, Ohio she relocated to Fancy Gap, Va., to be closer to her daughter, Sandy.
She loved Fancy Gap and got great enjoyment from her extensive gardens and her many feline companions.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Lynne Onieu (nee Alden), Sandra Lee West (nee Alden) and Sharon Ann Wentzel; her grandchildren, Justin Matthew Wilger, Catherine Elizabeth Johnston (nee Van Duser) and Andrew Peter Van Duser; her great-grandchildren, Elise Marie Johnston, Matthea Lillian Wilger and James Peter Johnston; her brother, Alan William Boyd; her sister, Judith Evelyn Charpentier (nee Boyd); and her nieces and nephews as well as many friends and her three cherished cats, Dusty, Stormy and Chatterbox.
She is predeceased by her son, James David Boyd; her parents, Howard Joseph Boyd and Evelyn Minnie Boyd (nee Sarr); as well as her brothers, Howard Walter Boyd I and Howard Walter Boyd II.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on September 20, 2014, at Victory Way Baptist Church in Hillsville, Va., with Pastor Mike Wells officiating.
The family would like to thank Waddell Nursing Home for their compassionate, loving and excellent care of Barbara during her stay there and Twin County Funeral Home for their kindness.
For their friendships, guidance and support, our gratitude and thanks to friends Bonnie and Fid McGee, Mason and Margaret Ayers, Mount Airy Pentecostal Holiness Church, Victory Way Baptist Church, Pastor Tommy Vass, Pastor Brian Frazier and Pastor Mike Wells. Praise the Lord!
