Forest Dette Vaughan, 91, of Fries, Va., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, in the Grayson Nursing and Rehab Center.
Vaughan was born in Fries, Va., on June 5, 1923, to Panco and Maude Hayes Jefferson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Emmett Vaughan Sr.; sisters, Edna Hubble and Lillie Jefferson; and brothers, Jeff Jefferson, Reeves Jefferson, Grady Jefferson, Roscoe Jefferson and Thomas Jefferson.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Bill Sumner of Floyd, Va.; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Diana Vaughan of Cleburne, Texas, Earl and Andrea Vaughan of Camano Island, Wash., Harrison Vaughan and special friend Brenda Walker of Christiansburg, Va.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held today, Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Fries United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lee Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends today, Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, from noon until time for the funeral service at the Fries United Methodist Church.
