Jeanne Voss, 86, of Galion, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.
Born Apr. 3, 1927 in Crestline, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Gladys (Swain) Metz. She was married to her first husband Everette Arter, June 2, 1946. He was killed in a construction accident Jan. 16, 1953. On June 19, 1955 she married William E. "Gene" Voss. He preceded her in death June 22, 2001.
Jeanne was a 1945 graduate of Crestline High School later graduating from Marion General Hospital School of Nursing as an LPN. In 1975 she graduated from North Central State College with a RN degree.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and began working at Galion Community Hospital in Apr. of 1953. She was a devoted nurse and loved caring for her patients. Jeanne retired in Jan. of 1995 after 40 years of nursing. Jeanne and Gene loved going to Florida in the winter and their travels in their mobile home. They loved and enjoyed their lives together and celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary two days prior to his death. Her family meant the world to her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Connie Hartung of Sandusky and Debora Voss of Westlake; four grandchildren, Corinna Bradbury of Mansfield, Veronica Galloway (Mike Sortino) of Huron, Garth Hartung of Clearwater Beach, Fla. and Alec Petro of Bay Village; three great-grandchildren, Connor Galloway, Molly and Sean Bradbury; one great-great-granddaughter, Mya Galloway, one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Ted Carmel of Galion and one nephew Tab (Carla) Carmel of Galion.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Angelica Wechter and one nephew, Ted Carmel.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion. Friends may call from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 at Peace Lutheran Church where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor Richard Genzman officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.
