Virgil Holloway Obituary

Virgil Richard Holloway was born on August 13, 1936 in Mt. Gilead, Ohio to the late Harold and Erma (Allan) Holloway, and grew up in the Johnsville area.
In 1956, Virgil married Barbara Hinklin who is deceased. Together they had 9 children. Virgil was a mechanic for several years, but a professional truck driver for many. His last job was with Estep Express in Mansfield, Ohio for about 15 years until he retired in March of 2010.
Virgil loved his children dearly and always regretted being gone so much while they were growing up.
Virgil gave his heart to God and accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of his life shortly before he met and married Jinny Keeran in 1995.
Jesus said "…except a man be born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God." John 3:3. "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17. This truly happened in Virgil! He became a different man! Virgil became a very very tender hearted man. He said, "I am so glad God changed me."
Virgil went home to be with the Lord on June 16, 2013, his family and friends will miss him deeply.
He was preceded in death by a baby daughter, Kelly Marie Holloway in 1962.
He is survived by his children: Patricia Smith of Vinita, OK, David Holloway of North Point, FL, Theresa Gross of Columbus, OH, Danny Holloway of Rotonda, FL, Jayne (Bill) Buckler of Lexington, OH, Steve Holloway, Skip Holloway and Brenda Holloway all of Shelby, OH; 3 step-children who he also dearly loved: Angie (Lance) Brookes of Prospect, OH, Rick (Cathy) Keeran of Marion, OH and Mary Ione (Caleb) Carson of Prospect, OH; 16 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; his wife of almost 18 years, Jinny Holloway, Brother Larry Holloway; and several brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 8652 St. Rt. 19 South in rural Galion from 12Noon to 2PM; Funeral services will immediately follow at the church at 2PM with Pastors Pam Lamb-Hart and Aaron Rose officiating. Burial will be at the church's cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heartland Hospice of Marion.

Not sure what to say?

My dear Father, I was not ready for your passing. Today is 06/19/2020 and still, you fill my thoughts. I miss you with all my heart. I wasn't strong enough or composed to address all the lovely people in attendance at your funeral. I mostly kept my composure to greet everyone, prepare the meal and serve, and try to speak to everyone who graced you with their presents. In closing, I offer my sincere sympathy to my Brothers, Sisters, their children and families, my Step Mother, Jinny, my step Brother (his wife & family), step Sisters (their husbands and families) all of Dad's family, Mom's family and their friends. Bless all those who love you.

Rest in peace Virgil. You, Barbara and your family were special to Glenn and me. That was always the first place we sent when we went to Ohio. You children are still family to me and it is so good to see them when I do get a chance to get to Ohio - which is not often enough. You all will always have a special place in my heart. I wonder who said "you old goat" first when Glenn met you in Heaven. Give him a hug for me.

Rest in peace, Virgil. You, Barbara and your family were special to Glenn and me. That was always the first place we went when we went to Ohio. The children are still my family and when I can get to Ohio it is so good to see all of them - not often enough. We always looked forward to your visits when you came through Georgia. I wonder who said "you old goat" first when Glenn met you in Heaven. Please hug him for me.

I will remember Mr. Holloway always with a smile on his face and those gentle eyes. Leaving behind a beautiful family of loving children who have all grown into the adults any parent would be proud of, what more could a man ask for when he could see the love in the eyes of his children looking back at him. His job here is complete he moves on to a better home to prepare for the day when he will see all of us again!!! Until then our memories will have to do' and mine will always be happy ones. I thank God for the relationships I've been blessed to have with this family. All of you are in my prayers. My dearest Patty- your always in my heart Love You Sheryl
