Gordon, Robert E. - Crestline  
Robert E. Gordon, 93, of Crestline, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015. Bob served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal, serving in World War II as a Forward Observer in Canon Company. He was a veteran of the Battle of The Bulge. Friends may call Friday from 5-8 P.M. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline. A Vigil Service will be held at 8:00 P.M. Friday. Visitation will also be held at the funeral home from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. Saturday, prior to Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Crestline. Burial will follow in St Joseph Cemetery. Military Honors will be given at the graveside by the United States Army and the Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail. Hocker, Martha Grace - Galion  
Martha Grace Hocker, 96, of Galion died peacefully on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Galion Pointe Nursing Home where she had lived for 10 years. She was born December 30, 1918 in Martel to the late John and Amanda (Wise) Beach. Martha grew up on a family farm and went to Whetstone High School where she played basketball and graduated in 1936. She worked for Stratbury Manufacturing in Galion and married Lewis E. Hocker on October 6, 1946. Lewis preceded her in death March 9, 2010. Martha was the classic homemaker and mother and will be remembered for her sense of humor, meat and potatoes and pecan pie. She was active in the former New Winchester EUB Church where she was in the Ladies Aid and played piano along with the area Mothers' Club. After her children grew up, she worked for Lazarus where she retired as supervisor of the gift wrapping department. She and Lewis enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and bowling in the Senior League at Suburban Lanes. She also enjoyed musicals, plays and a number of bus trips over the years. Martha was a big fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and was pleased to hear of their recent football National Championship. Martha is survived by three children, Jacquelyn Hocker and husband Roberto of Galion, Janis Hocker of St. Clair, Pa. and Jerry Hocker and wife Christine of Orient, Ohio; four grandchildren, Brennen Hocker, Jaimi (Ryan) Lauer, Jeremy Hocker and Antonio Joaquin Casaus; four great grandchildren, Morgan, Isiah, Ruby and Emma and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband of 63 years, Martha was preceded in death by her brother, Clair Beach and sisters, Florence Holland, Carol Frost and Aldine Young. Martha's family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 27 from 4-7 pm at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus where her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am with Rev. Darrin Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to HomeCare Matters Hospice through the funeral home and memories shared on her obituary page at www.wisefuneral.com.

James, Gilbert "Jesse" - Mount Gilead  
Gilbert "Jesse" James, age 85, of Mount Gilead, died Thursday evening, January 22, 2015, at the Woodside Village Care Center. On December 16, 1929, Jesse was born in Fulton, OH, the son of the late Charles Joseph and Oral Imo (Doty) James Truex. He served for a brief time in the United States Marines and was then employed for a short time at Erie Railroad before being hired by Galion Iron Works for 34 years, retiring in 1990. Throughout the years Jesse enjoyed hunting and fishing, going to the fair, craft shows, and steam engine shows. He also enjoyed traveling out west. Jesse is survived by his wife, Brenda Jean (Burky) James, whom he married July 8, 1970; a son, Rex A. (Vicki) James; a daughter, Dawn (Steven) Stoeckle; a step daughter, Kelli (Leslie) Robbins; 2 granddaughters, 1 step grandson and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ellen June Noakes and Geneve Grace Price; and a half brother, Thomas "Tommy" Truex. Jesse's family will greet friends from 1 – 3 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2015, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services honoring his life will be held there at 3:00 p.m. with Celebrant Don Lockwood officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the active duty U.S. Marines, VFW Post 8054, and AmVets Post 87 will follow in Bryn Zion Cemetery. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Heartland Hospice or to the Alzheimer's Association of Central Ohio, and may be made in care of the funeral home.
