Dave C. Fulkerson, 91, of Galion, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at home after a short illness. Born June 5, 1922 in Galion, he was the son of Glen and Edith (Rife) Fulkerson. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Virginia Teynor whom he married on June 14, 1947. He was a graduate of Galion High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II. Dave worked at the former Galion Cigar Store, City of Galion Light Plant and owned Dave's Tavern for 39 years retiring in 1997. He was a life member of American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 and Galion Eagles Aerie 630 and loved Lake Erie, perch fishing and bowling. In addition to his wife he is survived by son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Cindy Fulkerson of Mt. Gilead; grandchildren John J. Gardner and Lindi Osborn; a great granddaughter; sister Rosella Spears of New Hampshire; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Sweet Pea. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother Gerald Fulkerson and sister Jean Avloa. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel in Galion where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 14 with Chaplain Jed Brake officiating. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery at a later date. Military services will be conducted by the United States Navy and Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to Morrow County Humane Society or to the charity of donor's request.
