Brian L. Cook, 52, of Bucyrus, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 after a brief illness.
Brian Cook was born in Galion, on February 10, 1961 to Willmond "Bill" and Shirley (Gledhill) Cook of Galion. He married Jodi Lynn Cattano on October 3, 1987 and she survives him.
He was a graduate of Galion High School, Class of 1979, and received his degree in Turf Grass Management from Rutgers University in New Jersey. Brian was a golf enthusiast. He owned and operated New Winchester Golf Course with his family for the past eight years. Prior to this, he had been Course Superintendent at Marion Country Club for more than 20 years. Brian enjoyed fishing and golfing with his sons. Brian has won the Father-Son Tournament at New Winchester with each of his sons. His family and his sons were a very important part of his life.
He is survived by his sons Brody Lynn Cook and Mitchell Lynn Cook, both of Bucyrus, one sister, Lisa and Barry Gritton, Cincinnati, niece, Carly Gritton, nephew Carson Gritton, sister-in-law Shelly and Todd Garber, Bucyrus and their children, Wes Garber and Cale and Stacy Garber, Bria and Clint Zimmerman, brother-in-law Vince and Nancy Cattano and their children, Vincent Cattano, Alison Cattano, and Michael Cattano. Brian is also survived by his B.F.F. (Best Furry Friend), his Pug 'Beefy', who was a constant companion at the golf course.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., Friday at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 22, 2013, with Pastor Diane Seaman officiating.
