Brenda K. Strong, 63, of Galion, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at Millcreek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Galion after a 10 month battle with cancer.
Born April 27, 1949 in Bucyrus, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Betty (Campbell) Haala.
A graduate of Bucyrus High School in 1967 Brenda worked and lived in many states including Florida, California and Colorado. After returning to Ohio, Brenda is well remembered for her job at the Galion BP gas station. She had a very quick wit and a terrific sense of humor and always liked to have the last word with a joke, an I Love You or one of her unique hand gestures. Brenda just recently was able to spend one last evening with her friends at the VFW Post 4329 where she was a member. She also belonged to the Owls Club and Army-Navy Garrison 987.
Surviving are one sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Jim Ryan of Galion; a niece, Lynn Denton of Florida and many special friends that visited her while in the nursing home.
At Brenda's request, no visitation or funeral services will be held. Memorial Contributions may be made to HomeCare Matters Hospice, P.O. Box 327, Galion, Ohio 44833 or in memory of her to be used to defray the cost of a memorial to be erected in care of Richardson-Davis Funeral Home, 218 S. Market Street, Galion, Ohio 44833.
A private interment service will be held at Brokensword Cemetery, north of Bucyrus.
