Gordon S. Dyer, 62, Galion died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 at the home of his daughter after a long illness.
Born July 24, 1950 in Bucyrus, he was the son of the late Alonzo and Margaret (Cooley) Dyer. He married Julie A. (McDonald) Dyer on Aug. 29, 1981 who survives.
Gordon graduated from Galion High School in 1969 and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was a member of American Legion Scarbrough Post 243, Galion VFW Polk Post 4329, Polk Township AMVETS Post 1979 and Army-Navy Garrison 987. He formerly worked at Galion Manufacturing/Komatsu and most recently worked for Bosch where he was an inspector. He liked fishing and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Breakfast was Gordon's favorite meal of the day.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lindsey and Jarvis Branstetter of Galion; one son and daughter-in-law, Collin and Rachel Dyer of Galion; five grandchildren, Caleb, Carsten and CalLee Branstetter and Cole and Owen Dyer; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Alonzo Jr. and Linda Dyer of San Marcos, Calif., Les and Kathy Dyer of Bucyrus, Geral and Judy Dyer of Galion; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Donna and Leroy Walter of Mt. Gilead, Sheila and Mark Dyer of Galion and Dreama Dyer of Crestline.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew and close friend, Jeff Dyer.
Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion where services will be held at 10.30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 with Rev. Paul Walter officiating. Burial will be in Crawford County Memory Gardens.
Full military graveside funeral honors will be held by the United States Army and the Galion/Crestline area veteran's organizations.
