Jack H. Williams, Sr., 85, of Sebring, Florida and formerly of Galion died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Florida Heartland Hospital in Sebring, Florida.
Born July 2, 1928 in Galion, he was the son of Walter F. Williams, Sr. and Alma (Hartmann) Williams. He married Madonna (Ritchey) Williams on February 17, 1981 and she survives. He was previously married to Joann (Bonstell) who preceded him in death.
He was a graduate of Galion High School 1948 and Andrews Barber School of Columbus in 1954.
He is a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Galion. Jack was a drum major for Galion High School Band and was known in the American Legion Band as "Mr. Drum Major". He loved to travel, read and keep up on economics and owned rentals in Galion and Sebring, Fla. In Galion he owned Williams Barber and Beauty Shop for 28 years and moved to Pigeon Forge in 1981 and owned an ice cream shop and later moved to Florida in 1984 and owned and operated a wholesale pizza manufacturing plant in Ft. Lauderdale. He then moved to Sebring in 1987 and owned and operated an ice cream store there and went back to barbering for other barber shops for a total of 57 years of barbering. Jack was a life member of American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 in Galion, a member of Galion Historical Society and served as a board member of his home owners association in Sebring, Fla.
In addition to his wife he is also survived by one daughter, Judy Compton of Galion; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Sharon Williams Jr. of Boise, Idaho, Jerry and Terri Williams of Galion; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a brother the now late Walter F. Williams, Jr..
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lorena Webberley and a brother Richard Williams.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 at Peace Lutheran Church in Galion with Pastor Richard Genzman officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Full military graveside honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Galion/Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
