Paul Eugene Mahler, 82, of Galion and Pinecrest, Fla. died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at his winter home in Florida.
Born Nov. 30, 1930 in Galion, he was the son of the late Herman and Marie (Barz) Mahler. He was preceded in death on Dec. 24, 1994 by his wife, Herta (Gagel) Mahler whom he married on June 15, 1958.
Paul graduated from Galion High School in 1949 and is a United States Army veteran serving with the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean Conflict. He retired from General Motors in Ontario where he was a pipe fitter. Paul was a member of American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 in Galion, United Auto Workers Local 546 in Ontario and Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 42 in Norwalk.
Surviving are his son, Frederick Robert Mahler of Galion; his daughter and son-in-law, Karen Anne Lopez and James Myers of Pinecrest, Fla.; two grandchildren, Alexander Ryan Lopez and Christina Elizabeth Lopez, both of Pinecrest, Fla. and a sister-in-law, Iva Mahler of Galion.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Mahler.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Genzman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
Graveside military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Galion/Crestline area veteran's organizations.
