Shirley M. Bell, 77, of Galion, died Tuesday, Apr. 2, 2013 at Olentangy Woods Nursing Center in Galion after failing health.
Born Oct. 22, 1935 in Raven, Va., she was the daughter of the late Arville and Leora (Thompson) Turner. She was preceded in death on Aug. 2, 2007 by her husband, John J. "Jack" Bell, whom she married on Sept. 4, 1964.
Shirley was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Galion and a life member of AMVETS Polk Township Post 1979 and VFW Post 4329 Auxiliaries, both of Galion. She worked at Porky's Drive-In in Galion for many years and previously at the former North Electric in Galion. She was an avid doll collector, enjoyed crocheting, camping and fishing.
She is survived by five daughters, Ruth Ann Snell of Williamsburg, Ky., Patricia Jean Smith of Galion,
Becky "Brenda Sue" Christman of Mansfield, Debra Kay Merrill of Oceola, Ind., and Roberta Lynn Smith of Medina; a step-daughter and spouse, Kathy and Michael "Kim" Jenne of Galion; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents she was also preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis Dillow, one brother, Phillip Turner and a stepson, Robert J. Bell.
A private graveside service for the family will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Galion with Pastor Tom Snode officiating.
