Bertha C. (Schwaderer) Langjahr, age 96, lifelong resident of New Washing-ton, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2012 at Galion Pointe Nursing Home.
Bertha was a 1934 graduate of New Washington High School, worked at Nationwide Insurance in Columbus and the New Washington Egg Auction. She was a lifelong, faithful and active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in New Washington where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She was also a past church secretary, treasurer, and historian for which she was instrumental in the publishing of the "150 Years (1834-1984) of St. John's History" book. In addition, she was active with the Junior Mission Band, St. John's American Lutheran Church Women, Library Board and the New Washington Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, baking and spending time with her family
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ivan Langjahr; her daughters, Roxann (Ken) Cramer of Bucyrus, Janell (Richard) Benner of New Washington and Angela (Eric) Schiefer of Bucyrus; her grandchildren Tammy (Cramer) Hall & husband Bo Hall of Bucyrus, April Schiefer of Columbus and Dale Schiefer of Toledo; also survived by two great granddaughters twins Haylee and Kaylee Hall.
Bertha was preceeded in death by her parents William and Emma Schwaderer, two brothers Clinton and Robert Schwaderer and one sister Elnora Schwaderer.
Friends may call Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the St. John's Lutheran Church in New Washington from 2:00-6:00PM. A private funeral service will be held on Monday at the church with burial to follow at the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. John's Lutheran Church.
