Betty J. Deaver, 89, of Galion, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Magnolia Terrace in Galion.
Born April 3, 1924 in Galion, she was the daughter of Ernest Miller and Mae (Ploss) Miller. She was preceded in death on March 10, 1992 by her husband, Charles E. Deaver whom she married on January 1, 1944.
Betty was a graduate of Galion High School in 1942 and a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon and president of the Presbyterian Women's Association. She was a member of the Northend Garden Club. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She worked at the former North Electric and was a sales clerk at Bennett's Department Store. She also worked at Galion City Schools in the cafeteria and cleaned homes.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Judy Deaver of Johnstown; her daughter and son-in-law, Linda K. and Fred Reister of Columbus; grandchildren, Robin (Chad) Elliott, Amy (Michael) Vick, Mindy (David) Sybert and Eric (Heather) Reister and 10 great grandchildren who thought the world of her.
In addition to her husband, Chuck and parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Russell, and Jim Miller and two sisters, Eileen Turner and Marie Denman.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday. January 29, 2014 at Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel in Galion where her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 30, with Pastor Julie Fogle officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.
