Earl L. Shearer, Jr., 86, of Galion, died Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Mill Creek Nursing Center in Galion.

Born May 8, 1927 in Mt. Vernon, he was the son of the late Earl L. Shearer, Sr. and Thelma Marie (Coulter) Shearer. He married Betty L. (Graham) Shearer on June 12, 1954 and she survives.
He was a World War II United States Army veteran and lifetime member of VFW Post 4329. He worked at Perfection-Cobey Company for 26 years as a welder later working at Komatsu-Dresser, from where he retired. Earl loved to fish, eat, especially his son-in-law, Jerry's, cooking. He loved and cherished being with his wife.
In addition to his wife, Betty, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas C. and Nan Forton of Galion, Earl L. (Jody) Shearer, III of Galion and Danny R. and Tracie Shearer of Indianapolis; one daughter and son-in-law, Tonya L. and Jerry Miley of Galion; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Kerry L. Shearer; one brother, William Shearer and one sister, Dorothy Blair.
Friends may call from 12 to 1 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion where services will follow at 1 p.m. Monday, June 24. Burial will be in Crawford County Memory Gardens in Crestline with full military services conducted by the United States Army and Galion/Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
