Ella G. "Gertie" Campbell, 94, of Galion, died Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Galion Pointe Nursing Center where she has resided since January.
Born Sept. 9, 1918 in Bluefield, Va., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ella M. (Sanders) Grubb. She was preceded in death on Jan. 3, 2006 by her husband, William C. "Chet" Campbell, whom she married July 17, 1948.
Gertie and her husband moved to Galion in 2003 from Hyattsville, Md. to be close to their family. She was a member of Windfall Emanuel United Church of Christ. A 20 year employee at Sears Warehouse in Washington, D.C., she worked in the delivery office. She and her husband were ministers of visitation at Foursquare Gospel Church in Brentwood, Md.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Revs. Dreama and Loyd Caudill of Galion and one granddaughter, Cara (Joseph) Pfeiffer of Long Beach, Calif.
She was preceded in death by four brothers; two half-brothers; one sister; three step-sisters and one step-brother.
Gertie and her family were very grateful to their church family and the staff at Galion Pointe for the love, support and excellent care.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2013 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, with Rev. Art Snow officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
