Estella Irene Henry, age 84 of Monroe, Michigan, died Tuesday at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Born March 29, 1929 in Huntington, Indiana, she was the daughter of William Russell and Meta Kathryn (Reifert) Sonday. She married Monroe F. Henry on June 20, 1952 in Monroe.
Irene was a 1946 graduate of Monroe High School and a member of V.F.W. Post 1138 Monroe, Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of First Baptist Church where she was a former Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, and Youth Leader.
Irene is survived by her husband Monroe; three children, Frank (Renee) Henry of Temperance, Muriel (Barry) Finzel of Dexter, and Lonnie Henry of Monroe; a brother, Robert (Joan) Shroyer of Galion, Ohio; step-brother Howard Shroyer of Ocala, Florida; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by her father, William Russell (Marie) Sonday-Beck; mother, Meta Kathryn (Frank) Shroyer; and a brother Ernest Sonday.
Visitation was Thursday at Rupp Funeral Home followed by cremation. A memorial service was held Friday at First Baptist Church, Monroe.
