Harriet L. Heibertshausen, 86, of Galion, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013 at Magnolia Terrace Assisted Living in Galion.
Born Aug. 24, 1927 in Galion, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Esther (Sickmiller) Burden. She was preceded in death on Aug. 13, 1981 by her husband, William S. Heibertshausen, whom she married on Mar. 2, 1947.
She was a 1945 graduate of Galion High School and was a long-time member of First United Church of Christ where she belonged to Bethany Circle, Dawn Circle and sang in the choir. She was very active as a volunteer with the Galion Community Hospital Auxiliary TWIG 9, volunteering in the gift shop, in the cafeteria, at the front desk and at the mammography center. Harriet was a member of Naomi Chapter 42 Order of Eastern Star which merged with Bucyrus Chapter 3 Order of Eastern Star.
She previously worked part time at the former H&K Drug Store and with her brother at Burden Home Furnishing, both in Galion.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Louise and James A. Petersen of Tampa, Fla. and five grandchildren, Jackie (Jim) Keane, Greg Petersen, Matt Petersen, Trent Pancoast and Neil Pancoast.
She was preceded in death by one son and daughter-in-law, Mark L. and Linda N. Heibertshausen and her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Naomi Burden.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion where a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 with Pastor Brad Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Galion's Fairview Cemetery.
