Howard E. Sulser, 90, a lifelong resident of Marion County, passed away peaceful Friday, March 1, 2013.
Howard was born in Galion, on December 9, 1922 to the late Henry and Grace (Eastman) Sulser. He married Ethel Jean Manring on September 9, 1950 and she preceded him in death on May 25, 2012.
He was employed for nine years by Erie Railroad and 32 years by Whirlpool Corporation, Marion, retiring in 1988. Howard was a member of Sixteen United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army 44th Signal Corp during World War II. He was a Tully Township Trustee for seven years. He took pride and joy in living on the family farm and in his little one room country church. He always enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends.
Howard's family was very important to him. He is survived by his daughter, Kay (Dave) Jerew of Prospect; his two sons, Ken (Theresa) Sulser of Bucyrus, and Jim (Maggie) Sulser of Galion; his five grandchildren, Chris and Tim Jerew, Paul Sulser, Andy and Sheba Sulser; and his brother-in-law Charles Manring, Galion.
He was preceded in death by his brother Gary Sulser, his four sisters: Cleo Blacksten, Kezia Quiantance, Edith Dalrymple and Esther Paste.
Friends may call Monday, March 4, 2013 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion. Funeral services will be held at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 10:30 AM, with Rev. Pat Fruth officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery, Iberia. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and the Galion/Crestline Veterans Organizations.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Sixteen United Methodist Church or the charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
