Leona A. Ginder, 88 of Galion, died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
Born November 17, 1925 in Bucyrus, to Fontinelle and Laura (Dill) Armstrong, she graduated from Galion High School in 1943 and worked at North Electric in Galion from 1943 to 1949, then worked at the Shelby Depot until 1955 until her priority became raising her family after she married Walter J. Ginder January 13, 1954. He preceded her in death January 1, 2010.
Leona was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Galion and enjoyed trying new recipes and watching TV, especially the Lawrence Welk Show and the O'Reilly Factor. She also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and was a very gentle person with a sweet spirit.
She is survived by her children Carol Corwin of Crestline, Laura (Steve) Hedges of Columbus, Patricia (Mitch) Rall of Upper Sandusky, Barbara (Robert) Waines of Crestline, Jennifer Ginder of Galion and Jay Ginder of Hebron and eight grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by daughter, Susan Ginder, granddaughter, Melissa Ann Corwin and sister, Helen Shifley.
Memorial calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel in Galion. Private services will be held for the family. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
