Marion P. "Jim" Brown, 99, of 6977 German Rd., Crestline, died Friday, May 2, 2014 at Magnolia Terrace, Galion where he received loving care. Marion passed away after living 99 good years.

Marion was born and raised on his farm in Crestline on January 17, 1915 to the late Ralph Brown and Elsie (Volk) Swarer. He married Faye Marie Blazer on June 29, 1938 and she preceded him in death on December 9, 1993.

Marion graduated from Tiro High School. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Leesville where he served on Church Council for many years. Marion also enjoyed playing dartball at church. He served as secretary and treasurer of Dapper Cemetery. All of his life Marion farmed on the family farm, where he raised his five children. The farm to this day remains in the family. He also worked at Cobey Vault and Machinery. He enjoyed playing cards and gardening. Marion loved his farm animals and enjoyed spending time at the Tiro Tavern.

He is survived by his five children, Millie Humphrey of Galion, Ronald D. and Jeanette Brown of Tiro, Delbert G. and Louise Brown of Waverly, Joyce and Dale Karg of Upper Sandusky, and Jerry Brown of Blooming Grove; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters, Norma Buskirk, Martha Volk, and Evelyn Gledhill; his grandson, Michael Brown; and his stepfather, Noah Swarer.

Friends may call Monday from 12-2 pm at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline, with Pastor Richard Genzman officiating. Burial will follow in Dapper Cemetery, Crestline.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Leesville or the in care of the funeral home.
