Marjorie Dill Auld of Galion died peacefully at home, March 27, 2013. She had recently celebrated her 97th birthday on March 14, 2013. She was the daughter of Elmore and Sadie Dill, also of Galion, and the last surviving member of a family that included one brother, Robert, and two sisters, Ila (Lonsac) and Thelma (Farver).
Marjorie was a graduate of Galion High School and Darvas School of Fashion Arts in Cleveland. She worked as a clothing designer for Stern Dress Company of Columbus where she became a master seamstress. She established a successful career producing custom home furnishings, costumes, and clothing and in later years worked at Bennett's Store as a visual merchandiser.
Marjorie married Richard W. Auld of Galion on November 17, 1940. They remained married for 62 years until Richard's death in 2002. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Galion, a Charter Member of the Presbyterian Women's Association, and a member of the Galion Historical Society.
Three sons survive her; Thomas (Jane) of Kent, Edward of Galion and Stuart of New York. Also surviving are five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the ICU staff at Galion Community Hospital and the Home Care Matters Hospice of Galion. We are particularly grateful for the compassionate care provided Marjorie by Carla Castle of Crestline, her home care companion.
