Richard "Dick" L. Grogg, 77, of Galion, died Saturday, May 25, 2013 at home unexpectedly.
Born Feb. 3, 1936 in Galion, he was the son of the late Carl H. and Pearl (Morrow) Grogg. He was preceded in death on Apr. 4, 2005 by his wife, Judith A. (Ryan) Grogg whom he married on Aug. 9, 1958.
Dick attended Iberia High School and served in the United States Army Reserves from 1954-1962. He was a life member of Army Navy Garrison 987 and a life member of Polk Township AMVETS 1979. He was a member of American Legion Scarbrough Post 243, V.F.W. 4329, and Galion Eagles Aerie 630.
Dick worked 10 years for Crawford Construction, 10 years for the City of Galion and 18 years for the Crawford County Landfill as a heavy equipment operator. Also, he worked part time for Shick's Heating and Electric for 30 years and part time for Polk Township for six years. Dick enjoyed cooking, fishing and western movies.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Bash and Scott Wiggins of Galion, a son and daughter-in-law; Douglas and Cindy Grogg, of Galion; five grandchildren, Ryan (Shawna) Bash, Jason (Megan) Bash, Tabbitha (Ben) Branham, Tina Grogg, and Teyana (Josh) Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Macey and Aubrey Bash, Brinnley Branham, Camdyn Spencer and McKenna Johnson and a step great- grandchild, Brett Johnson.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Riddlebaugh.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 30, with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.
Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Galion/Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
