S. Effa ""Becky"" Johnston, 92 of Galion, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Wednesday morning, April 30, 2014 at Mill Creek Nursing Center in Galion.
She was born February 27, 1922 in Iberia and was the daughter of Carl and Ruth (Sherman) McDonald.
Becky married Charles S. Johnston on June 14, 1942 and he preceded her in death after 55 years of marriage on August 21, 1997.
She was a lifelong resident of Galion and worked at the former ITT North Electric in Galion for 26 years where she did clerical work. She was known as the ""Recipe Queen"" and loved to share her recipes and cooking and baking.
Becky is survived by her three children, Jude Stitzel and friend Gene Grubaugh of Galion, Phyllis Johnston (Larry Kilgore) of Medina and Rick Johnston of Galion; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and one brother, Pete (Thelma) McDonald of Sebring, Fla.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, C.E. ""Jack"" McDonald and sisters Lilian Miller, Mary Chambers and Violet Hurlow and one grandson, Ricky Mason.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Southview Baptist Church, 6904 Crawford Morrow County Line Road, Galion, Ohio 44833 with Rev. David Cline officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Southview Baptist Church or to the Salvation Army, Crawford County Branch in care of the funeral home.
