Velverine "Val"Grasley, 72 of Galion passed away at 6:30 pm Wednesday in Galion Community Hosp-ital, she had been seriously ill for the past 2 days.
Val was born July 2, 1940 in Vanceburg, KY to the late William and Eva (Dyer) Carpenter. She was married Feb. 11, 1956 to Frank Grasley who survives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son Mark and sister Elvira Chinn.
Val is also survived by children Marcia (Chris) Sprague, Crestline; Frank "Bud" (Kathy) Grasley Jr. of Texas; Mike (Mindy) Brown, Bellville; Russell (Kelly) Grasley, Texas; Stacy (Andy) Ellis, Johnsville; grandchildren Michael Conley, Jason Grasley, Malina, Courtney and Kyle Barker, Autumn Brown, and Mark and Valarie Grasley; 3 great grandchildren Haley, Magen, and Noah Grasley; several brothers and sisters including brothers Charles and Zoney Carpenter of Bucyrus, and Olive Hobbs and Liz McGlone both of Bucyrus; Violet Dulin, Pickaway Co., Irene Cooley, Maysville KY; and Myrtle Hobbs of Vanceburg, KY.
Val was a homemaker and lived most of her life in this area and one of her enjoyments was playing bingo.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev. John Wiseman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and memorials may be made to New Day Ministries Food Pantry.
