Eugene A "Gene" Claus

Eugene "Gene" A. Claus, 65, of Galion, died February 24, 2014 at Galion Community Hospital.

Born in Willard, he was the son of Ralph J. and Maxine R. (Gillett) Claus. He married Brenda D. (Lee) Claus on July 20, 1974 and she survives.

Gene was a graduate of Northmor High school and served in the United States Army Marine Corp during Vietnam. He worked as service manager at MIT in Cleveland. He enjoyed the outdoors, shooting guns, traveling to Florida and loved his family especially spending time with his grandchildren. Gene was an all-around good guy that people liked. He spent lots of hours doing things for others.

In addition to his wife Brenda he is survived by son and daughter-in-law Andrew and Nicole Claus of Galion; daughter and son-in-law Jill and Josh McBride of Galion; grandchildren Katelynn and Nolan Claus and Chase and Mason McBride; brothers and sisters-in-law Robert Claus of Shelby, Richard Claus of Centerburg, Fred and Donna Claus of Galion, Tom and Jackie Claus of North Robinson; sister Roxanne Claus of Bucyrus and sister-in-law, Peggy Claus of Bucyrus.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother Ralph Claus Jr.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel in Galion where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 28 with Rev. Monty Trammel officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Galion.

Military graveside services will be conducted by the United States Marine Corp and Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in care of the funeral home.
