Stephanie M. Supron, 87, of Galion, died Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Galion Community Hospital.
Stephanie was born in Lackawanna, NY on February 28, 1927 to the late John and Mary (Kotowicz) Melisz. She married Nicholas Supron on September 5, 1954 and they celebrated 58 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2012.
Stephanie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galion where she served as a religious instructor for many years. She was a very active volunteer in her community including serving as a member and past president of Twig Ladies Auxiliary at the Galion Community Hospital. She was a board member of the Galion Tree Commission and helped get Galion recognized as a Tree City USA. She belonged to the Sorosis Book Club and was a Master Gardener and enjoyed her membership in the Neighborhood Garden Club. Stephanie held a Bachelor's Degree from Mercyhurst College and a Master's Degree from the University of Buffalo. She was an avid swimmer and enjoyed travelling around the country to visit her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her eight children: Nicholas & Linda Supron of Jamestown, RI; Maria Shupe of Allenspark, CO; Gregory & Wendy Supron of Bernardsville, NJ: Matthew & Cheryl Supron of Marquette, MI; Christopher Supron of Mansfield; Steven & Kate Supron of Ithaca, NY; Catherine & Douglas Conklin of Galion; and Peter & Jean Supron of Powell; sixteen grandchildren; her brother John Melisz of Hamburg, NY, her sister Virginia Klein of Towanda, NY, her sister-in-law Barb Melisz of Lackawanna, NY and her brother-in-law Carl Neu.
She was preceded in death by her brother Edward Melisz, her brother-in-law Jim Klein, her sister-in-law Mary Melisz, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Donald and Eleanor Macauley and her sister-in-law Mary Neu.
Friends may call Thursday from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion. A Vigil Service will be held at 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home lead by Deacon Al Sisson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 pm Friday, April 4, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galion, with Fr. John Miller, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Galion.
