Donald R. ""Don: Harris, age 80, of Galion died Friday morning, April 11, 2014 at Signature Health Care in Galion.
Born June 21, 1933 in Milan, Ohio to Edwin and Mildred (Poth) Harris, he has been a Galion resident for 43 years.
Don was owner/operator of Harris & Sons Stump Removal and was a member of the VFW, Eagles, Amvets and Stats. He loved to sell produce at his stand and also loved horse racing, camping, hunting, and he was an avid fan of the Indians, OSU, and the Cleveland Browns.
He is survived by his children, Randy (Deb) Harris of West Virginia, Bob Harris of Galion, Vickie Bowen of Bucyrus, Scott Harris of Arizona, Jim (Leeona) Harris of Ashland, Larry Harris of Bucyrus, Troy (Vicki) Harris of Mansfield, Kevin (Meaghan) Harris of Missouri, Cheryl (Jon) Gray of Crestline, Annette (Lenny) Gaskill of Crestline, Crystal (Ed) Knipp of Kentucky and John (Laura) Harris of Galion; 33 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Daniles of Arizona, Bev Gray of Bailey Lakes and Thelma (Mike) Oswood of Arizona; one brother Norm (Leona) Harris of Arizona, many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sue Harris; son, Terry Harris; grandson, Chance Harris, granddaughter, Shawna Harris; infant brother, Tommy Harris and brother, Jerry Harris.
A celebration of Don's life will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the VFW Post #2920 in Crestline starting at 4:00PM. Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby assisted the Harris family with arrangements. In Lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions made to the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post #2920.
