LaVelva E. Chandler, 96, of Galion, died Monday, Feb.18, 2013 at Magnolia Terrace in Galion.
Born Mar. 31, 1916 in St. Paris, she was the daughter of the late Hobart and Marie (Harter) Niece. She was preceded in death on May 10, 1983 by her husband, Robert J. Chandler whom she married on July 20, 1935.
LaVelva was a graduate of Lakeview High School in Lakeview and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ada. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Trinity Chapter #16 in Ada and belonged to the Galion Country Club and Tally Ho Club in Ada. She was an honorary member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority in Ada.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Sharon Chandler of Galion and Dennis and Judy Chandler of Cornelius, NC; five grandchildren, David (Lynne) Chandler, Paige (Lisa) Chandler, Eric (Kim) Chandler, Amy (Scott) Archer and Rob Chandler; three step-grandchildren, Carrie (Charles) Smith, Jessica (Josh) Corwin and Ben Ross; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Lewis Niece of Tucson, Ariz. and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and Garry Niece.
Friends may call from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion where services will be held at 10:30 Friday, Feb. 22 with Rev. Mike Corwin officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 at Preston Cemetery in Alger, Ohio
