Albert L. Miller, 83, of Galion, died Friday, April 19, 2013 at home after an extended illness surrounded by family and friends.
Born March 12, 1930 in Galion, he was the son of the late Roy R. and Mary B. (Shumaker) Miller. He married Jane Ann (Mitchell) Miller on July 8, 1950 and she survives.
He was a graduate of Galion High School in 1948 and was an United States Army veteran serving with the occupation of Japan under General Douglas MacArthur from 1948 to 1950.
Albert was a machinist at Galion Manufacturing /Dresser Industries/Komatsu retiring in 1995 after 44 years of service. He enjoyed machine work, metal spinning, wood turning and repairing parts or making new parts of machines for farmers. He was a life member of Christ United Methodist Church in Galion and enjoyed listening to Gospel music.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Minerva Miller of West Lake Village, Calif.; one daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Soren Jensen of Anacortes, Wash.; one grandson, Royce Miller; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Dale Miller of Cameron Park, Calif. and Richard and Dorothy Miller of Galion and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is preceded by one son, Raymond Miller; two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Miller and one sister, Elizabeth Miller.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013 at Christ United Methodist Church with Pastor Jerry Penrod officiating, followed by military services by the United States Army.
