Douglas A. Gardner, 57, of Galion, died Wednesday, April 25, 2013 after a sudden illness.
Born Aug. 14, 1955 in Galion, he was the son of the late Richard B. and Mildred (Schrote) Gardner.
He loved his family and his dogs, Ringo and Jaco. He was soft spoken, loved being outdoors and would give you the shirt off of his back.
He is survived by his long time love, Becky Lewers with whom he made his home; one son, Kyle Gardner of Galion; three step-children; Michael Lewers of Phoenix, Adrian Lewers and Shain Lewers, both of Galion; six grandchildren; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Matt Etzinger, of Galion, Nancy and Craig Rinehart, of Broken Arrow, Okla. Karen and Butch Chandler of Tuscaloosa, Okla. and Leanne and Tim Tackett, of Snellville, Ga. and one brother, Eric S. Gardner, of Tuscaloosa, Okla.
He was preceded in death by parents, step-mother, Marilyn J. (Tewell) Gardner and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Corner Pocket, 716 Harding Way East in Galion.
