Parley E. Plaster, 67, of Galion, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus after a two week illness.
Born Jan. 18, 1946 in Swords Creek, Va., he was the son of the late Clinton H. and Margaret E. (Price) Plaster. He married Gail A. (Blackford) Plaster on Aug. 27, 1966 and she survives.
He was a 1964 graduate of Galion High School and served in the United States Army in Viet Nam. He worked at the former Globe Steel in Mansfield for 14 years and has owned and operated concession trailers for 24 years. Parley enjoyed fishing and was an avid New York Yankee and Cleveland Indians baseball fan and was well known for his abilities in baseball and football during his high school years.
He is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Mike D. Plaster of Galion, Tom J. and Pam Plaster of New Windchester, Ohio, James M. Plaster of Galion; one daughter, Angie M. Plaster of Galion; four grandchildren, Michael S., Christopher A., Aaron M. and Ashley M. Plaster; one great-granddaughter, Emma R. Plaster and one brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Becky Plaster of Middlebury, Ind.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 14 with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating.
Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Galion/Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
