GASTONIA - Charles Bonner Todd, 94, departed this life Jan. 5, 2013.
He was the son of the late John Young and Carrie White Todd.
He graduated from Erskine College in 1939 and became an insurance agent for Equitable Life in the same year.
He earned the Chartered Life Underwriter degree in 1961.
During World War II he served his country as a ground school instructor in the Army Air Force.
Mr. Todd was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Williams Todd; and by a son, William White Todd.
He is survived by his present wife, Jean Wood Todd, of Gastonia; two sons, Charles (Judy) Todd of Atoka, Tenn., and Calvin (Lisa) Todd of Fayetteville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Todd was an active member of the Gastonia Kiwanis Club for more than 50 years, an elder in the First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Gastonia and the Moderator of the General Synod of the A.R.P. Church in 1978.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at the First A.R.P. Church in Gastonia with the memorial service following at 11 with the Rev. Matt Kui-ken and Dr. John Carson officiating. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bonclarken Conference Center, 500 Pine Drive, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
