Henry Garner Obituary

GASTONIA - Henry Hillard Garner, 85, died Feb, 11, 2013, at his residence.

He was a native of Gaffney, S.C., son of the late Joe Garner and Nellie Ball Garner.

Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with the Rev. Paul Brown offici-ating.

Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park with Military rites provided by The Gaston County Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia, prior to the service.
Friends will also be received prior to and after the service at the residence.

Mr. Garner was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from the National Cash Register Company with more than 45 years of service. He was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church, member of the WWII Last Man Club of Gaston County, Masonic Lodge member and a member of the VFW. He loved, golfing, hunting, fishing, bowling, cooking on the grill and being with his family and friends.

Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Reavis of Gastonia, grandsons, Scott Reavis and wife Michelle of Ranlo, William Reavis and wife Kelly of Midland, Texas, three great grandchildren, sister, Annie Bell Fowler of Gaffney, S.C., six nieces and three nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ruth "Pat" Overcash Garner, three brothers and three sisters.

Memorials may be made to Covenant United Methodist Church 801 West Franklin Blvd., Gastonia, N.C. 28052 or Hospice of Gaston County P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, N.C. 28054.
