Jesse Thomas "JT" Braswell, 82, went to his Heavenly home Aug. 15, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond E. and Hazel Pennington Braswell, and is survived by his wife, Lena of Coldspring, TX; his sister, June and her husband Dave Boyer of The Villages, FL; his children: Larry and his wife Ann Braswell of Spartanburg, SC, Benny "Keith" and his wife Karla Braswell of Lincolnton, NC, Jesse Thomas "Tommy" and his wife Debbie Braswell of Kings Mountain, NC, Shauna and her hus-band Dick Hannah of Gastonia, and Raymond Braswell and his partner Laura of Gastonia; his grandchildren: Michael, Ann Renee, Brian, Dan-ielle, and Chae; and four great-grandchildren.
JT lived most of his life in Gastonia, working many years for the Leigh Sandwich Company and a number of years in the textile industry. He and his wife, Lena, moved to Tennessee where he worked for the Pigeon Forge Trolley Company. This was the job he loved more than anything – meeting new people and talking with friends and family as he drove the trolleys around Pigeon Forge.
They retired to Texas in 2010.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, at Sunset Lane Baptist Church, 1001 N. 12th Street, Bessemer City, and will be officiated by Pastor Dick Hannah.
The family will receive friends and loved ones for a half hour prior to the service.
A private burial will follow at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
