DALLAS - Charles "Charlie" Porter Moses, 76, passed away May 23, 2013, at his home.
He was born Feb. 10, 1937, in Gaston County, son of the late Oliver and Latisha Moses.
He was raised in the mountain community of Franklin, N.C.
"Charlie" was an exceptional father and role model. He was dearly loved by his grandchildren. He was a US Army vet-eran and retired from FMC Lithium in Bessemer City. After his retirement he worked part-time at the Gaston County Museum of Art and History.
A service of remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road, Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Fain Farmer.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City with military honors.
Mr. Moses is survived by daughter, Sandra Moses Brazzle and husband Dereck of Gastonia; grandchildren; Seth Dalton Brazzle, Dustin Cole Brazzle, Kassie Logan Moses, Breanna Leigh Moses.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his wife of 46 years, Barbara Moses; a son, Charles "Chuck" Moses; sister,
Emma Lou Henson; brother, Billy Moses.

Sandy I just find out today from one of my co-worker of your fathers passing. I am so sorry for your loss. I think of him often when I pass the house or in Dallas by the muesum. I think about all of you and how you are doing. Love you all very dearly.(Worked with you mother at Wachovia)

Sandy, I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. I know how much you love him. I remember coming over to your house when we were kids, with our parents getting together to talk and have dinner. I will always cherish the memories I have of Charles, Bobbie and Chuck. He will be missed, praying for you and your family.

I worked with Charlie at FMC in Bessemer City for many years. He was a good friend. Although I have not seen him since I moved to Virginia sixteen years ago he will be missed.

What a sweet man Charlie was - I always looked forward to seeing his smile at the Gaston County Museum. He was a "salt of the earth" guy, and he will be missed greatly. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
