Nichols, James* - Clover  
CLOVER, S.C. - James Robert "Buck" Nichols, 62, of Adams Road, Clover, SC went home to be with his Lord on June 27, 2015 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, Rock Hill, SC. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at First Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Marvin Carson, Rev. Gary Brown, Rev. James Messer and Gary Conrad officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday June 30, 2015 at First Freewill Baptist Church, 307 Valley Ave, Clover, SC. James Nichols, who everyone called "Buck", worked hard for his family and for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He witnessed to people everywhere he went about God. He pastored Bowling Green Freewill Baptist Church for about 20 years and also had a plumbing company, Lake Wylie Plumbing. He never got rich because he never charged people like so many others did. Buck also gave to people in need. He always said God bless him in more ways than money. He said he made many mistakes along the way and that he wasn't perfect but he tried to be. Buck fought a long hard battle to live because he loved his family and church family so much, but God wanted Buck with him. He will be greatly missed by all. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Jean Camp and Sally English. Survivors are his wife Belela "Sissy" Burton Nichols; daughter Sandra Humphries (Tony) of Gastonia, NC; sons David Nichols & Mark Nichols both of Clover, SC; mother Helen Nichols; brother Jack Nichols; in-laws who he loved as brothers & sisters, Cliff Burton (Cathy), Walter Burton (Debbie), Larry Burton (Laketa), Bobby Burton (Cathy), Lena House (Monty), Linda Burton (Marshall), and Marshall Burton (Debbie); two grandchildren, Jessica Bright (Walter) & Lynn Biddix (Greg); great grandchildren, Tony Bright, Katelynn Biddex, Emily Biddex and many nieces and nephews. Nichols, Robert* - Belmont  
BELMONT - James Robert Nichols, 90, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2015, at his residence. He was born in Towns County, Ga. on August 22, 1924, to the late David Elijah and Bessie Owens Nich-ols. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Aileen Farr Nichols; brothers, David Roy Nichols, Walter Ralph Nichols and Johnny Ray Nichols; sisters, Ora Den-ton, Margie Guffey, Lottie Daniel and Mae Rogers. Robert was born and raised in Tate City Georgia, which he was very proud of his heritage. He was a US Army veteran during World War II, receiving two Purple Hearts, three Bronze Stars, a Silver Star and the French Fourragere; and after his years in service he worked as a truck driver until he retired. He later went to work for the Gaston County Recycling on South New Hope and worked there for over 26 years. He was a member of Catawba Heights Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, raising beagle dogs, fishing and hunting. Robert was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who cherished God, family and country! Survivors include his children Kenny Robert Nichols and wife Lynn of Gastonia; daughter, Kay Nichols Ballard and husband Ron of Belmont; grandsons, Jason Murphy and wife Jeanann and Robert Hooper and fiancée Laney Guice; great-grandchildren, Dillon, Alicia and Breeanna Murphy. A service to celebrate his life will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Catawba Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Raymond Johns Jr officiating. Family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Saturday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home. Interment will be at Evergreen "A Quiet Place" with military honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be his family, Jason and Dillion Murphy, Robert Hooper, Jamie and Jody Farr, David Guffey. Memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054 and/or Catawba Heights Baptist Church, 311 Belmont Mt. Holly Road, Mt. Holly, NC 28120. The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to his caregivers Kim Ball and Karen Novelli.
