GASTONIA - Ivey Mae Mosley Hawes, 79, passed away Nov. 24, 2014, at Gastonia Health Care and Rehab. She was born in Gaston County on April 19, 1935, daughter of the late Robert Lee Mosley and Julia Garrett Love Mosley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Diana Foster as well as brothers, Everette Mosley, Robert Mosley, Marshall Mosley, Earnest Mosley, Harold Mosley and James Mosley and sisters, Margie Green and Elsie Smith. She is survived by two sisters Mildred Abernathy of Mt. Holly and Dorothy Turner of Gastonia. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at Carothers Funeral Home Gastonia, 312 W. 2nd Ave., with a service at 3 p.m. Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park following the service. Hoyle, Ralph* - Lincolnton  
LINCOLNTON - Ralph Harold Hoyle, 82, of Salem Church Road, passed away Nov. 25, 2014, at his residence. Born Feb. 2, 1932, in Burke County, he was a son of the late Julius Haywood Hoyle and Iva Irene Brittain Hoyle. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Stamey Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center. A private graveside service will be held at St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery in Casar. Arrangements by Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Fallston.

Holbrook Sr., Harvey* - Gastonia  
GASTONIA - Harvey Lester Holbrook Sr., 90, passed away Nov. 23, 2014. Born in Plainville, Conn., Mr. Holbrook was the son of the late Herbert Lester Holbrook and Edna Frances Todd Holbrook. Mr. Holbrook was a graduate of the University of Maine and was employed with Lithium Corporation for over 35 years as a chemical engineer. An active member of East Baptist Church, Mr. Holbrook served as a deacon, choir member and Sunday school member. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holbrook was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mitchell Holbrook; son, Harvey Lester Holbrook Jr.; sister, Iva Bass. Mr. Holbrook is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda Ann and Carey Daniel; grandchildren, Ian and Christina Holbrook, Michael Daniel, and Aaron Daniel; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Lauren, Riley, and Lilian; sister, Hilda Fielding. Family and friends of Mr. Holbrook are invited to attend his visitation beginning 10 a.m. Wednesday at East Baptist Church with his funeral service at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary. Pastor Tim Parker will of-ficiate. Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park. Condolences may be sent online to www.mcleanfuneral.com. SHELBY – Betty Plyler Hewitt, 96, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at Kings Mountain Hospice House. A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Oscar and Grace Kale Plyler. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 2 p.m., at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cleveland Memorial Park. Rev. Terry Graves will officiate. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Dr., Shelby, NC 28150 Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby is handling the arrangements.

Hinson, Sandra G. Taylor*  
BELMONT – Sandra G. Taylor Hinson, 51, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 21, 2014 at CMC-Main. She was born in Kansas City, MO on June 20, 1963, a daughter of Cletus R. McClung and the late Nellie Lewis McClung. Sandy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. She grew up in the Summersville, WV area and worked for many years at Dales Superette in Belmont. She is survived by her husband, Billy Hinson of the home; children, Kansas Riffle and R.J. Hughes of Summersville, WV, Chris Hughes of Gastonia, NC, Heather Erazo and Amanda Mohmmed of Matthews, NC; sisters, Shirley Neff of Mt. Nebo, WV, Shannon Tomlin and Shilla Clements of Buena Vista, VA, Schirl Spinks of Sumersville, WV; brother Robert Shane McClung of Enon, WV; grandchildren, Brooke Riffle, Harley Hughes, Conner Hughes, Ava Erazo and Jayden Mohmmed.
