CHARLOTTE - Martha Fay Garmon, 78, passed away Friday, Nov. 14, 2014. She was born in Mecklenburg County, daughter of the late Louise McCracken and William Prentiss Grant. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly, with the Rev. Leroy Grant officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte. Condolence messages may be sent to the family at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly is serving the family.

Garver, Gladys*  
GASTONIA - Gladys Ouzts Jones Garver, 87, passed away Nov. 16, 2014, at her residence. She was a native of Gaston County, daughter of the late James and Mattie Moses Ouzts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Jones Jr., and several brothers and sisters; She was retired from the Gaston County Health Department as an X-ray technician and was a lifelong member of Maylo United Methodist Church in Ranlo where she taught Sunday school for 40 years. She was a beloved and faithful servant of Jesus Christ. Her faith and family were very important to her and her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Karen Cherry of Gastonia; and Kathy (Mike) Ellis of Dallas; sister, Mary Nell Hayes of Gastonia; grandchildren, Brittany (Steven) Peeler; Hannah Cherry and fiancé, Aron Wellman; Staci (Daron) Dragon; great-grandchildren, Kinsey, Karlie, and Kaiden Peeler; Jes-sica and Katelyn Kelly; special friend and caregiver, Jan Witherspoon. A service to celebrate her life will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Maylo United Methodist Church in Ran-lo, conducted by the Rev. Laura Auten. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Gaston Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Maylo United Methodist Church, 1900 Spencer Mountain Road, Gastonia 28054 or to Hospice of Gaston County, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054. Condolences may be emailed to in care of the Garver family. Ward Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
