LINCOLNTON - Helen Myrtle Magness, 95, of 1410 E. Gaston Street, formerly of Iron Station, transitioned peacefully on June 30, 2015, at Lincolnton Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Lincoln County on March 14, 1920 the daughter of the late Henry and Ida Reinhardt Magness. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. KINGS MOUNTAIN - Martha Patterson Martin, 50, of 168 Bill King Road, passed away June 30, 2015, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. ALEXIS - Bobbie Beatty McClure, 69, of 2056 Little Mountain Road died Monday, June 22, 2015. She was born in Cleveland County, daughter of the late Vinetta Mellon Beatty and Ralph Junior Beatty of Mount Holly. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Sheila Cline and Tammy McClure. She was a member of Cornerstone Family Worship. In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband Maxie William McClure; two sons, the Rev. Kevin McClure and wife Tanya of Stanley, and Jeff McClure of Alexis; one brother, Donald R. Beatty and wife Kathy of Lexington, S.C.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. McClure will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday at Cornerstone Family Worship, 709 Rankin Avenue, Mount Holly with the Revs. Art Sneed and Kevin McClure officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Gaston County, P.O. McGinnis Jr., Harold* - Mt. Holly  
MT. HOLLY - Harold Montgomery "Monty" McGinnis Jr., 66, formerly of Mt. Holly, passed away June 27, 2015 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, after a brief illness. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date. Born on July 29, 1948, in Mt. Holly, he was the son of the late Harold McGinnis Sr. and Ruth (Black-welder) McGinnis. Monty was a graduate of Mt. Holly High School and Western Carolina University. He was also a proud member of the Zeta Xi Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha. In recent years, Monty enjoyed spending time with family and developed a passion in providing pet care services. Left to cherish his memory are his son, John McGinnis along with his daughter-in-law Rebecca McGinnis of Jamestown, and his grandchildren Anna and Isaac McGinnis; his sisters, Amelia Arthur (husband, James) of Yorktown, VA and Nancy Jessen (husband, Bob) of Mt. Holly, NC and many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Loving Pet Inn Adoptions, 820 Gallimore Dairy Rd, High Point, NC 27265.

She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Duckworth and husband Ed of Belmont; son, Don McMahan and wife Charlotte of Belmont; grandchil-dren, Amy Kellum and husband David, David McMahan, Jonathan Duckworth and fiance' Shannon Boy-ette, Nick Duckworth and wife Brittany; great grandchildren, Alyssah and Braden Duckworth; sister, Gail Tucker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Baxter McMahan; sisters, Margaret Jolley, Dottie Warren, Nancy Ottinger; brother, Francis Lane. CHERRYVILLE-Rebecca Ann McSwain, 61 of Belmont, formerly of Cherryville, died Saturday, June 27, 2015 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. She was born in Lincoln County on October 12, 1953 to the late John and Betty Fisher McSwain. Becky was formerly employed at Alfred and Charlie's in Gastonia. The family would like to "Thank" Gaston Residential Services for the care given to Rebecca, and a special cousin and best friend, Betty Sue Scism. She is survived by her sister, Kathy M. Moss and husband, Jack of Cherryville; two nieces, Stephanie Dellinger and husband, George of Iron Station, and Julia Moss of Cherryville; and one great niece and two great nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Second Baptist Church at 3 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Lail officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 2-2:45 PM and at other times at the home of Kathy and Jack Moss.
